2025

My paintings incorporate imagery from museum collections, books, and digital archives recontextualized into compositions exploring image use, attention, memory, and time. I am interested in how we can hold onto an image and give it continued attention and intentional absorption amidst a constant deluge of images. These paintings of paintings engage in a conversation on the imagery we see, scroll past, archive, and what we desire to be influenced by. The act of recreation is a way to investigate each painting down to the individual brushstrokes and a way to hold on to the knowledge and the influence of an image.

2023 - 2024

Unique to my painting practice is the incorporation of the 3D pen in combination with paint and collage. The 3D pen melts colored filament out of a nozzle like a frosting tube. As the plastic cools, it solidifies leaving hardened “brush strokes” with a thick texture. I use this tool with oil paint to create a linear mark making, showing the movement of the hand following the movement of the eye across canvas.
